**School counselors provide safety and guidance for the well being of all students!**
Elementary school counselors help schools by:
1. Facilitating groups
2. Working with children individually
3. Consulting with teachers, parents,
administrators, and being a liaison
between home and school; this
includes being on the Student
Intervention (Response to Intervention)
team.
4. Providing resources for child issues
5. Provide intervention classes for students (ranging from study skills, social skills, skills for success, etc...)
Guidance lessons are presented for Character Education, Bully prevention and Drug and Alcohol Prevention.
A comprehensive school counseling program provides:
1. Needs assessments which discover what the student needs most
2. Goals are established with students and or relevant stakeholders to provide students with the best interventions
3. Implementation of actions to reach the goals
4. Data is collected and monitored to ensure that the counseling program is effective
I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful school! Helping people is my passion! Working with the students and staff has been an amazing experience for me so far. I graduate with my Masters Degree in School Counseling in December, so I am excited to have a jump start on helping others!
I am returning to Baker after a couple of years away. I have 6 years of teaching experience with 5th and 6th grade. My husband is a Denver Fire fighter and we enjoy spending time on the lake! I am a member of the American School Counselor Association and the Colorado School Counselor Association http://www.coloradoschoolcounselor.org/.
I am at Baker full time to assist in the academic achievement of students, I just approach it differently than a classroom teacher. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance! I can be reached at 970-867-8422 ext. 44179.
